Hyundai has another year-end surprise for fans looking to get their hands on the 2022 Hyundai Tucson. After debuting the adventure-oriented XRT trim on the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe in August, Hyundai has expanded the rugged trim level to the 2022 Hyundai Tucson here in the US. Curious to learn more? What’s new in the 2022 Hyundai Tucson XRT?

The Korean automaker has the first images of the 2022 Tucson XRT, and boy are we impressed! The adventure-ready 2022 Tucson XRT features design tweaks that give the already rugged-looking SUV an even tougher off-road look. Although it is based on the mid-spec Tucson SEL trim level, the XRT trim looks tougher and rugged than the standard model with its blacked-out design elements.

Changes on the XRT trim include:

• Exclusive front and rear fascias with rugged detailing
• Beefier black cladding around the sides and the wheel wells
• Gloss black monotone exterior side mirrors
• Dark window surrounds
• Cross rails on the roof rails
• Exclusive 19-inch alloy wheels finished in gloss black

Apart from this, the XRT gets approach lighting and side steps that welcome you to its handsome interior, which features an all-black cloth seating and black headliner to go with the exterior. The XRT also features a tow hitch which will come in handy for towing a trailer or a boat. The rest of the specs remain unchanged.

Any changes under the hood?

Since basically the Tucson SEL with the Convenience Package, the XRT doesn’t bring any changes under the hood and is available only in the standard gasoline-powered 187-horsepower 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine. And just like the standard model and the 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe XRT, the Tucson XRT also comes with a choice of FWD (front-wheel drive) and AWD (all-wheel drive).

Price and Availability

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson XRT starts at $32,625 for the FWD model and the AWD model costs an additional $1500. It will be available at dealerships, including here at Hyundai of St. Augustine, as soon as January.
