There may be a Hyundai Sonata Hybrid option within the greater new Hyundai lineup, but that doesn't mean that it's the only vehicle winning the praise of environmentalists. Rather, the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy's (ACEEE) is keeping an eye out for those who want a green ride without adopting newer, hybrid technology.
In fact, they even go as far as to release a "Greener Choices" list each year. And for the last seven years (including this one), the standard Hyundai Sonata graced the list. Wait, the Hyundai Sonata is considered a "Green Choice," but not the Sonata Hybrid? Not exactly. See, this list is literally designed for vehicles that are not hybrids. Furthermore, vehicles on the list must also be widely available and feature an automatic transmission.
Of course, we realize that some of you out there may be wondering why the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy would make a list like this in the first place. The reason? They want to encourage as many people as possible to consider a more fuel-efficient choice for their next vehicle. And they know that some may be hesitant to check out hybrid and electric vehicles.
