If you stay up-to-date on car manufacturer new and issues, you could have heard about huge recalls of a certain Japanese auto brand's vehicles due to the threat of unintended acceleration. South Korean automaker Hyundai wishes to assure its new vehicle drivers that this issue will never affect them. That's why Hyundai is making the feature standard on all of its 2012 Hyundai vehicles starting this month.
Robert Babcock, Director of Certification and Compliance Affairs for the brand's technical center, explains the importance of brake override technology, stating, "With Hyundai's brake pedal throttle override capability, any brake pedal input by the driver, even with a runaway throttle condition, completely overrides any throttle malfunction. It is no longer possible to have increasing engine power once the brake pedal is depressed by the driver. This adds a reassuring, incremental safeguard of control for Hyundai drivers."1
