Ruth Eisen, Executive Director and Associate General Counsel for Hyundai Motor America could tell you all about what it's like to deal with the challenges of autism. As a mother of a child with autism, she works tirelessly on her own behalf and on the behalf of her company to raise awareness about the developmental disorder that affects around 2 million Americans, including 1 in 88 children.1 Recently, Eisen kicked off the annual Walk Now for Autism Speaks event, which Hyundai sponsored for the third time this year, by talking about her own family's experiences with the disorder.
Eisen explains the importance of the project, stating, "As the mother of a child with autism, I am proud to work for Hyundai and to see its commitment and compassion for children's health. Hyundai and I are honored to have been a part of the 2012 Walk Now for Autism Speaks and to help increase research for, and awareness of, autism to better the quality of life of the kids and families dealing with autism every day."1 Eisen kicked off the event with opening remarks about her own family's challenges with the disorder. A new Hyundai Tucson then led the way for walkers and runners as the 5k event's official vehicle.
