Times Square might be famous for its New Years Eve ball drop, but this year Hyundai made sure that the Veloster got in on some of that action too. More specifically, for the end of 2011, the Hyundai video billboard in Times Square featured a new racing game starring the all-new three door coupe, and the South Korean automaker invited passersby to download a virtual controller for the game in the form of an iPhone app, which we here at Hyundai of St. Augustine can't get enough of.
Known as the "Hyundai Race" game, the app let drivers partake in some edge-of-your-seat action with the 2012 Hyundai Veloster in the heart of NYC. What's more is that by playing the game is close proximity to the billboard, players were able to broadcast their game play onto it for others to see, and at the end of each race, every player's score was plastered there as well. This made for some serious bragging rights, and it exposed the Veloster to a wider range of people than ever before.
This new game comes as a part of the Hyundai "New Thinking. New Possibilities" campaign, which was officially revealed at last year's North American International Auto Show. Since then, Hyundai has continued to find more and more interesting ways to market its vehicles, and we can only look forward to what out-of-the-box idea they'll come up with next.
Unfortunately, the Hyundai race game is gone from NYC, but you can still check out the Veloster, or any other new Hyundai, on our lot at 2898 US Highway 1 St. Augustine, FL 32086. If you contact us online or by phone at (888) 292-9681, we can arrange a test drive on any model, such as the Hyundai Genesis Coupe, Accent, or Elantra Touring, or even any of the used Hyundai models that we carry as well!
