Hyundai is winning more and more awards every day, and their dominance in the U.S. market is becoming more evident with each one. Recently, the South Korean automaker fared very well in the J.D. Power and Associates Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout (APEAL) Study, and we here at Hyundai of St. Augustine could be not be more excited!
Specifically, the 2011 Hyundai Equus stole the show, earning the highest spot in its class. Both vehicles and automakers are scored on a scale of 1,000 points, and the Equus earned more than 900 points when tested!
"The Equus has the distinction of being the highest-performing model in the 2011 APEAL Study," said J.D. Power and Associates. "The Hyundai Equus has achieved an impressive introduction into the marketplace from a performance, execution and layout perspective."1
In the J.D. Power and Associates APEAL study is a customer survey, specific aspects of a vehicle are evaluated, such as exterior aesthetics, storage space, and convenience features. Overall, Hyundai increased its ranking to 15th place. This is an increase of 13 rank positions, achieved by a total of 33 points on top of what they have scored in the past. That also marks the largest increase that an automaker has ever seen in the history of the study!
"We are thrilled with the recognition of Equus and the Hyundai brand as a whole in this year's J.D. Power and Associates APEAL study," said Frank Ferrara, executive vice president, Customer Satisfaction, Hyundai Motor America. "With the success of our Equus flagship and the unique appeal of our dynamically designed and fuel-efficient Elantra and Sonata, we're continuing our quest to satisfy all types of American car buyers."2
Another impressive feat was seen in the Hyundai Sonata's ranking. Overall it finished just shy of first place. And what's more impressive is the fact that the Sonata came only two points shy of first. The final score was 818 vs. 816.
